About UsDuring the 1990's both my sister's family and my family took trips with our parents several times per year. We found that our parents would tire quickly and could only walk a few hundred feet without wanting to sit down and rest. To make life easier, we suggested wheelchairs, but they would have no part of one, reminding us that they were not invalids. My brother in-law and I started thinking about the problem, and defined our need as finding a wheelchair that didn't look like a wheelchair, was ultra-lightweight, and folded small enough to carry and travel with us on an airplane. We could simply carry the chair when our parents wanted to walk by themselves, and have it ready when they needed it. Needless to say, we were unable to find anything meeting this description available on the market. Working together with Mechanical Engineering students at the University of Delaware, we embarked on a Design and Safety Testing Program for the Strolleasy™ transporter. We are indebted to those students who over a four and a half year period, built testing equipment meeting ASTM testing standards, checked designs using leading edge computer aided design and analysis techniques, and finally tested the various chair components and assemblies to insure that the Strolleasy™ transporter would meet all FDA requirements. We are also indebted to Joe Lansberry, a retired mechanical engineer, who acted as our technical consultant throughout the program. Joe's wealth of experience, including designing rocket motors for the Lunar Landing program and other high tech projects, was invaluable. Today, the Strolleasy™ transporter is a tested lightweight (14.5 pounds), compact (folds to 8 inches by 9 inches by 34 inches), sturdy (will carry up to 250 pounds), easy to carry (fits into a carrying bag with handles and a shoulder strap), convenient (will fit into the overhead compartment of most commercial airplanes, or the back or trunk of any car), comfortable (sling seat design like that of millions of camp or mom's soccer chairs, and adjustable arm and footrests), chair that will perform the function of a wheelchair, but doesn't look like one. Strolleasy™ transporters are assembled in Middletown, DE. They are made under ISO 9000 manufacturing protocols to insure that each and every unit which we ship meets your approval. We hope you will try the Strolleasy™ transporter today and we guarantee your satisfaction. Richard HarrisonPresident |
